Father's Day Breakfast in Bed
Make dad's favorite breakfast, whether it's bacon and eggs, oatmeal, or a
big piece of chocolate cake (some people really do love this for breakfast
(grin). Pour him a cup of coffee or tea, have the morning paper on the side of
the tray along with any Father's Day cards. Then just leave him alone to enjoy
his breakfast in bed and the morning paper in peace.
Make pancakes by placing different-shaped cookie cutters on the griddle and
pouring in the pancake batter. As soon as the pancakes start to set, remove the
cookie cutters. Make dad a few fried eggs using the same method.
If you're feeling especially creative, try making dad special pancakes.
Carefully pour the batter so it says "#1 DAD" or "I"
"use a heart-shaped cookie cutter here"
"DAD"
Serve him special toast. Mix a few drops of food coloring into 1/8 cup of
milk. Using a clean pastry brush, paint a design on 2 slices of bread (or
"I" "draw a heart shape"
"DAD"). Toast the bread and serve it with butter and jam.
Make waffles (either frozen Eggo waffles or homemade). When they come out of
the waffle iron, cut out different shapes using cookie cutters.
If dad is a late rise he might prefer brunch instead. Cut ham and cheese or
peanut butter and jam sandwiches into various shapes using a cookie cutter.

Making Father's Day Dinner
Extra Special
Make dad a special dinner for Father's Day, use cloth napkins complete with
napkin rings, a flower arrangement for the centerpiece, a few unscented candles
to make the occasion even more special. If you have a fireplace, light a fire
and move the table in front of the fireplace and turn out the lights. You'll
feel like you're dining in a fancy restaurant.
Let dad watch TV if that's what he enjoys, the whole family can join him.
Just set up TV trays and enjoy a good movie (maybe rent something you think
he'd enjoy). If he's into sports, let him watch the game without complaining
(who knows, the sport he's interested in might end up being something you can
all enjoy as a family). Dad might really enjoy ordering a pizza for his
Father's Day dinner (along with a cold one).
Take dad out to his favorite restaurant for Father's Day, be sure to make
reservations though.
For dessert, let the kids decorate frosted cupcakes for dad. Use a plastic
egg carton to hold coloured sugar, sprinkles, edible glitter, raisins,
finely-chopped nuts, chocolate chips, etc. Put the cupcakes on a cookie sheet
to contain the mess.
Crafts Tip: Edibile Glitter is available at kitchen specialty
shops.
